Our Story
(The CliffsNotes version)

We met on Hinge in 2018. Krista liked Sal's Brooklyn smile, and knew there had to be more to him than the boring answers he gave on his profile. We chatted, met up 7 days later at Kyma Flatiron, then again 3 days later to see A Bronx Tale on Broadway (thanks Chazz!)... and the rest is history. Everything just fit together... it flowed. It was fun and easy. The kind of love you only find once in a lifetime if you're lucky. Soulmate stuff. Ok, so why Italy for the big day? (Why not?!) You have to understand, Italy is its very own vibe. The lifestyle, the food, the people, the scenery... did we mention the food? We're so grateful to have had so many first time experiences there together, it holds an incredibly special place in our hearts.

I did it on top of the Volcano so if she said no, I could push her off.

Our Engagement
(as told by Krista)

Our entire trip to Sicily was magical. HOT. But so magical. We started this particular tour day with a stop at a small vineyard, then headed to the top of Mount Etna. The volcanic ash was everywhere in the parking area since it had just erupted the day before (a very common occurrence!). Walking on the crater felt like being on another planet... complete with an adorable old man playing The Godfather Theme on his accordion. We then headed to Barone di Villagrande, a 300 year old vineyard. Our wonderful tour guide Iggy had arranged a private tour, and tasting... all while taking pictures of us (I assumed for his social media). After the tasting, I headed to the ladies room.... and then tragedy struck. The bathroom went pitch black, the AC shut off, the electricity was no longer working. I was wearing a onesie! Ladies.... you get the visual. Was I truly trapped inside an Sicilian sweatbox, or was it the wine catching up to me? But somehow, through the power of 10 Hail Mary's, I made it out alive. Very sweaty. SO sweaty (see pic), but alive. But clearly, in some twist of fate, this was the ideal moment for the happiest moment of my life... Sal dropped to his knee and I tried running away. haha. It was all so shocking, funny, and amazing... all perfectly us. I'm the luckiest girl in the world.
Funny story: We have a video of our engagement that we both absolutely despise. Iggy's driving and touring strengths far out weighed his photography skills.
